How do you know? Is it physically damaged? Just curious.

What caused it to fail? Just replacing it and hoping for the best might be risky!

Looks Expensive :(

Has it taken any driver circuitry with it?

I think someone has replaced these before, cant find the thread currently

I've asked another person as well if they know of a source.

Yes please, some idents on those marked parts would be handy etc, if you want the high res versions of those pics I'll e-mail them over if that helps.

John Kay bought 2 and changed one. He might sell the other, if you asked him nicely.

The IGBT was obviously blown, hole in the side and a trace of black soot on the alluminium housing.

No signs of other damage.

According to John Kay's post about £45 for two new ones.

I suspect the brush fault I had a few months prior probably aged the IGBT

I have PM'd John in hope he still has a spare and is willing to sell it? If not at least find out where he sourced it.

Thanks everyone, I will let you know how I get on....

Regards, Simon

Hi Chris, it is back on the road...

I sourced a new IGBT from hong kong at a resonable price.

Replaced it and hoped for the best... Still same fault... :(

Sent the controller off to Evan to rectify the rest of the failure.

Back from Evan and just been road testing over the bank holidays, all looking good.

I assume the driver circuitry had been damaged also.
