Electriques (s) being broken for spares

Postby tim.strutt » Thu Jan 21, 2010 2:52 pm

I saw someone was breaking an electrique on ebay and called to see if the had the vaccum pump and controller for sale, to be told they had SIX electriques and they'd put me through to the owner as he was working out what to do with them!

I spoke very briefly to the owner who put me on hold/lost me a few times and appeared very stressed about anyone coming down to see the vehicle(s) for a week or so - looks like he's been fielding quite a few calls about them...

Here's the ebay link to the "elctrique motor/gearbox for sale".

I've left my number as I'm after a couple of brake servo pumps/controllers, and possibly a new motor controller - I guess I'm not the only one in a queue for one!

Some vans from that time might have 2003 cells if they were replaced by Citroen. My own van is 99 with 2003 cells.

Maybe let him know what he's dealing with.

If the cells are duds, Saft UK are responsible for their disposal.

I think you still have to bring them to the disposal point.

I've send a message to the seller about the toxic nature of the STM-100 MRE cells. Hopefully they'll get recycled properly.

I didn't have chance to talk to the owner at any length, I got the very distinct feeling he had really had enough of talking to poeple about the vans and so backed right off.

One has to wonder why sometimes.......

tres bien. :-)

Actually SAFT dont have a responsibility to take them back, and wont. They will however guide you to a company in Birmingham who will dispose of them for you. They quoted a pro rata cost of £250 per tonne.
They send you a sealed pallet and you put your batteries in it they collect them, not cheap.

These vehicles were originally from Southampton University, he has had them at least two years.

Not sure anything is going to come out of this yard. Such a shame.
I spoke to him on tuesday and hereally isnt interested in selling them in a hurry as he said they have been there two years so he doesnt need to do anything quickly.
