Re: Greenpower Finals , Goodwood, Sunday 14 October 2012
quick report on the day (now over a month ago). We came 2nd in both races, and we were out of the main race for 23 minutes with electrical problems due to the continuous heavy rain. So, pretty good day (i.e. could do better...!!!.). Main race was won by Rotary Racer for the 3rd year on the trot. In ...

Re: Greenpower Finals , Goodwood, Sunday 14 October 2012
Just a 'bump' to note that this year's finals are approaching on Sunday October 13th. My team have got back to the sharp end in both races on the day (Look out for Dougal vs Jet in the first race and Dougal vs Rotary Racer in the 2nd). Looking forward to another good day out! (actually it's more tha...

Re: EU "legaliser" for an RC motorised ebike
Bit of an update: programming solution here & working; Hardware (mostly) in place to motorise my trike. Only lack of time + inherent laziness holding me back........ http://i543.photobucket.com/albums/gg471/bobc0/trike/trikedrive2_zpsdf8d39f7.jpg http://i543.photobucket.com/albums/gg471/bobc0/tr...

Re: 24V lead acid battery charger with maximum power point t
Oversampling the ADCs let me increase the resolution & has improved low light performance no end. The incremental conductance method was a non- starter on this board with 8bit ADCs. I now have a complete tool chain from "C" source to programming the PCBs at home so am progressing again...

Re: 24V lead acid battery charger with maximum power point t
Boards are back, no. 1 built up & experiments ongoing: I'm looking at the effects of search step size, step rate etc. a various insolation levels. It looks as though a simple adaptive search step size is appropriate, with larger voltage search steps at lower light levels (i.e. lower array curren...

Re: EU "legaliser" for an RC motorised ebike
PCBs arrived last week - now built up. Just waiting for a programming adapter to arrive from hongkong ;^) programming adapter finally here - wow that took a while! I Also needed to make an extra bodge board on the programmer to allow 1) use of tiny10 micro and 2) use of reset pin for purposes other ...

Re: EU "legaliser" for an RC motorised ebike
Thought I'd add a bit more info to this; the reason I did the circuit was for an electric assisted pedal trike. I work with a school "greenpower challenge" team. Our car goes over 120 miles in a 4hr race on just 20p worth of electricity. I want that performance in my commuting vehicle. And...

24V lead acid battery charger with maximum power point track
Just a quick note about a project I'm working on; it's a solar charger for a 24V lead acid battery. It's a small (and I mean small - 25mmx40mm) PCB which runs from a 20V PV array - the sort you'd use to charge a 12V battery with a shunt regulator. To do the maximum power point thing, it has a AVR AT...

EU "legaliser" for an RC motorised ebike
My ebike, (it's done several thousand miles now), uses a brushless outrunner and ESC from the model plane world an a small circuit to translate the output from a hall effect throttle to drive the ESC. This works fine but it's hard to drive (throttle way too twitchy) and technically illegal (it can d...

Re: Greenpower at Goodwood
enjoyed a cracking day at Goodwood yesterday. We got 3rd in the 1st race and 5th in the 2nd with our car Zebedee - which is about as good as we could hope. Both races were won by a substantial margin, by "Iwhoosh" in the first race, and by "Rotary Racer" in the 2nd. So we're no l...
